Woinee Mariam knows a thing or two about Ethiopian cuisine. After all, her own relatives still reside in Ethiopia, continuing to cook the traditional dishes that she grew up eating. So she and husband Solomon Hailu are the perfect pair to run Taste of Ethiopia in Pflugerville.

The traditional Ethiopian restaurant gained such a large following that it recently debuted a second location in Austin, and both branches dish out authentic fare that you eat with your hands instead of utensils. Simply tear off a piece of injera, the traditional flatbread that comes with each meal, and use it to scoop up morsels of doro wot, a beef stew teeming with classic spices. Or opt for the lamb seared with purified butter, onions, garlic, tomatoes, and ginger. Taste of Ethiopia also offers a sizeable vegetarian menu, so there should be something for everyone here.
